This is the story of a collection of people who follow Jesus. We live in Littleton. We encounter people in the name of Jesus, we allow Jesus to turn us into disciples, we gather often, and we equip people to love and serve other people better.

Subject: We Will Stay in Tokyo

Good Morning!

It is Saturday morning, about 6:30 AM, just woke up from a good night's rest.

We are doing well! Remarkable things have happened and are happening, there is much hope and faith shining forth from the dedicated group of volunteers - what is now about 100 at CRASH Command Center in Tokyo.

Information and Prayer Requests:

--We have carefully evaluated and we will stay in Tokyo. We are in a lot more danger from getting hit by a car than by nuclear fallout. Staying here and working alongside our Japanese friends and missionary colleagues is what we want to do. It is a tremendous honor and privilege to be working in the same room as two Japanese pastors who are key leaders in the church in Japan.

--We have the essentials...plenty of food, water, etc.

--We have not been able to get gasoline for our car or kerosene for our home furnace. Both tanks are running low. These things are available, if you search for it and wait in long lines.  This is a critical need for us for hauling food and getting between our home and the CRASH command center.

--Naomi is doing well, she has a dog sitting job, getting paid for something she loves to do.

--The link for CRASH was wrong in my last update. The correct one is:  www.crashjapan.com       Mike Hennings (my intern) is one of the press release writers)

--This news just came in from CRASH leader Jonathan Wilson:

CRASH is partnering with Samaritan's Purse to distribute 90 tons of relief supplies in Sendai.

SP (Samaritan's Purse) is flying the plane (a 747) into Yokota AFB from where it (the stuff in the plane) will be airlifted to Sendai Airport on Sunday. They need as many trucks and volunteers as possible from the Christian community to transport that material to our bases and their warehouse as possible.  Anything left will have to be turned over to the civil defense. We need to get as many trucks as possible to Sendai by Sunday!

Thanks for your prayer and concern. We deeply appreciate your messages and prayers.

Sincerely,  Paul

Hi Mark,

I was searching for something on Google and found your post from March, 2011. Thanks so much for posting my update. Reading it brought back many memories. I am so glad that we stayed in Japan. Disaster relief work was an awesome opportunity to do something for a nation I care a lot about.

Thanks again!

Warmly, Paul
