This is the story of a collection of people who follow Jesus. We live in Littleton. We encounter people in the name of Jesus, we allow Jesus to turn us into disciples, we gather often, and we equip people to love and serve other people better.

Verses I am thinking about today from One Year Bible (Sept 17)

Isaiah 25:6-8 On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine-
the best of meats and the finest wines,  On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever.  The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth.  The LORD has spoken.

Isaiah 26:3 He will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.

Isaiah 26:16 Lord, they came to you in their distress; when you disciplined them, they could barely whisper a prayer.

Galatians 3: 21-22  Is the Law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God?  Absolutely not!  For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.  But the scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.

Psalm 61:1 Hear my cry, O God: listen to my prayer.  From the ends of the earth I call to you,
I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to a rock that is higher than I.

Proverbs 23:18 There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.

Breaking News From Paul Mitton: Pastor Ed Nelson Is With The Lord

Dear Converge Rocky Mountain Family,

Former RMBC Executive Minister Pastor Ed Nelson went to be with the Lord last Saturday night.  Pastor Ed served in many capacities throughout the Baptist General Conference and left a legacy of changed lives through passionate evangelism and changed communities through the new congregations he helped to start.

A service for Pastor Ed will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, September 18, 2009, at The Rock of Southwest,10393 W. Alamo Pl., Littleton.

A reception will follow. A family graveside service and interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park separately. To see his obituary or to write a condolence to the family go to www.EvergreenMemorialPark.com/obits.html

I will be saying a few words at the service.  If Pastor Ed has touched your life or your church in a special way, please email me your remembrances.  Keep it to a paragraph or two and I will try to include as many of your thoughts as I can.  Be in prayer for Pastor Ed's wife Dorothy and his extended family.

Churches together....transforming lives and communities!
Paul

"GROUND ZERO...GROUND GRACE!"
by Peggie C. Bohanon

"The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runneth into it, and is safe (Proverbs 18:10)."

"Ground Zero"--a phrase that's become part of our late-breaking vocabulary, and the only way we can find words to describe the horrible place of destruction in New York City, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. Our hearts broke as we watched workers sifting through the rubble looking for more survivors and more miracles in the awful mess...brought about by the deliberate madness of man...and underwritten by the prince of the underworld, Satan himself!

But a remarkable thing happened at Ground Zero...volunteer workers, churches, charitable organizations suddenly appeared on the scene, asking, "Can we help?" "What can we do?" Little girls made cookies for the volunteers...people in the neighborhood brought coffee to the workers, churches set up food and clothing centers...we saw GRACE at Ground Zero, underwritten by the Prince of Heaven, Jesus Christ Himself!

And Ground Grace comes to YOU today, in the midst of YOUR Ground Zero...for Jesus Himself has said, "Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." So is THIS the end of the world? Only God knows--but we need not worry for our lives are in His hands--He is still Lord; He still reigns, EVEN at Ground Zero.

Fighting fear, anxiety, uneasiness, anger, frustration...all the negatives of the enemy that pull you down, all the way down, to Ground Zero?? Then it's time to LOOK UP--for wherever there's a Ground Zero that ABASES, there's a Ground Grace that ABOUNDS. The God of all Grace is with you when you're at your lowest point--He wants to lift you up, to help you see what's going on from HIS perspective. It's all under His watchful eye--and His unlimited, all-empowering, never-failing, immeasurable GRACE is yours today! ...and that's just a thought or two from my heart to yours!

President's Address to Students

This is a special edition of Chalk Talk with information about President Barack Obama’s speech to students.

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the President will address the nation’s school children via a live broadcast at 10 a.m. (Denver time).  The speech will be carried live on the White House Web site and on CSPAN.  According to the White House, the intent of the speech is to encourage students to work hard, set educational goals and take responsibility for their learning.  School districts across the country have been asked to make the speech available to students.

The decision about whether or not to show the speech is a school-based and classroom-based decision.  Parents who do not want their child to view the speech should contact the school directly; alternate activities will be provided for students who opt out if their classroom is showing the speech.  All classroom activities related to the President’s speech must be tied to the district’s curriculum and standards.

Please contact your school if you have any questions or concerns.

The September I always wanted...

I say it every fall.  I love September.  The air is crisp.  The school year begins anew.  Football.  New friends, new programs, new activities, new small groups.  LOVE it.  I love beginnings.  I lay out the calendar (you may want to grab yours at this point).  30 days in Sept.  Some are full.  Friday is the Ben Speckman golf fund raiser (raisng money for Converge Rocky Mountain).  Some days are wide open (like Monday, Sept 14) - [call me, we will set up lunch].  Thursdays night gets crossed out - Evergreen night with Ma and Pa (Annika and Britta piano lessons included).  Fridays get crossed out (Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University).  Tuesdays get crossed out (youth group).  Wednesdays get crossed out (Heidi -worship team/ girls kids program at the Rock).  Annika's Westernaires horse club.  (5) (19).  Sundays in Sept: Labor day (6), All church picnic (13), Small group kick off (20).  The the meetings get put in.  Our next Church Lead Team Mtg is Sept 9th.  Staff meeting every Friday at 12pm.  SPECIAL EVENTS: Bethel University Picnic (5), Kopp Fundraiser (12), Tara Borman Fund Raiser Concert 5-7pm (19) Summerset (Sept 18-20), Bethel Homecoming (25-27)....You know what...I think I used to like Sept. more when it was less complicated.  But then again, I guess Sept. has always been like this.  You hit it running, and hang on for dear life.
